Baby gas... mylacon or gripe water?

My couins baby, 1 month has gas. the doc said to use mylacon gas drops. it doesnt seem to work but she still gives it. she is very fussy. I have heard gripe water works well for gas, did you use it and did it work better than mylacon. Or any other advice would be appreciated.
